Ida Nørby is a classically trained experimental cellist and film music composer. Her approach to music is playful, creative, open minded and explorative.

In 2020 she received a Professional Studies Certificate in classical cello from Manhattan School of Music, New York City and in 2019 she completed a master’s degree in classical cello at The Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen. Currently she is pursuing a master’s degree in Film Music Composition at The Danish National Academy of Music.

An important part of her work is to play and perform contemporary and improvised music with her four groups: Rán, Damkapellet, Wesen and K!ART. She also works with electroacoustic composition and live-processing.

Additionally Ida has a lot of experience as a theatre musician. Theatres she has worked in includes The Royal Danish Theatre, Det Ny Teater, Folketeatret, Nørrebro Teater and Det Lille Teater.
